The medieval Upper Langa: towers, castles and ancient churches

In Niella Belbo, visit the remains of the castle, the medieval arch known as the “arch of the French” and the parish church of San Giorgio, with its recently restored 15th-century frescoes. Continue on to Mombarcaro, the “top of the Langhe”. From here, the panoramic view ranges from the Ligurian Apennines to Monviso, and on very clear days you can even glimpse the sea. Continue towards Monesiglio to visit the Romanesque pieve (parish church) of Santa Maria dell’Acqua Dolce and the castle, the historical residence of the Caldera counts and the marchesses of Saluzzo.
