… the location of a pieve (parish church) dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and in the hamlet of Castello, where the remains of the walls and a cistern still remain.
Priero’s historic centre has maintained its original layout, and the continuous surrounding wall had four cylindrical towers and three gates.
The unusual urban plan can still be identified, as can the perimeter of the fortifications. Significant traces of the curtain walls and all four of the towers still remain. The porticoed structure that runs along the sides of Via Roma, the village’s central street, is interesting.
